Transforming Archives with Interactive Digital Experiences
The Gates Preserve
Forging an Innovative Pathway
The Gates Preserve invited Kyndred to partner with them on revolutionizing archival practices to celebrate and immortalize diverse narratives within hip-hop culture. Our work focuses on making their rich tapestry of history interactive, relatable and accessible to a global audience.
Strategic Innovation
We introduced creative technology solutions and iterative design approaches to elevate TGP’s archival endeavors.
1. Interactive Timelines: The digital archives we produced evolved from static websites to include interactive timelines that immersed users in the intertwined stories of the artifacts, offering an engaging exploration experience.
2. Culturally Relevant Tagging System: We experimented with intuitive tagging system that allows users to search archival content with nuanced references to cultural roots – turning archival interaction into a familiar conversation.
3. The Moment: This feature enriches the narrative, enabling deeper connection between multiple artifacts to represent more contextualized and comprehensive retellings of an archive’s legacy.

The Journey and Achievements:
To date, we have launched diverse digital archives, each celebrating a unique aspect of hip-hop culture. Our ongoing projects continue to enrich these archives with interactive and accessible elements, bridging past legacies with present explorations.
As we look toward the future Kyndred and TGP are exploring cutting-edge technologies like artificial intellegence and augmented reality R to optimize user experiences and continue our commitment to making cultural contributions of black and brown figures in hip-hop accessible and celebrated.
